WATSONVILLE — Participating in the 25th year of riding to end AIDS, more than 3,000 cyclists and volunteer “roadies” will ride out of Cow Palace in San Francisco on Sunday to launch their seven-day, 545-mile journey from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
AIDS/LifeCycle is billed as the world’s largest HIV/AIDS fundraiser, raising millions of dollars annually to support San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the HIV and AIDS-related services of the Los Angeles LGBT Center. Participants are HIV-positive and HIV-negative, LGBT and allies, ages 19 to 90, and from nearly every state and 16 countries.
The riders will make their way to Santa Cruz on Sunday, and will resume their journey the following day, passing through Watsonville on their way to the next rest stop in King City.
