Two arrested in Fentanyl bust

WATSONVILLE—Two people were arrested after a lengthy probe from Watsonville Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit helped seize more than three dozen Fentanyl pills that officers believe were being sold throughout the region.

WPD spokeswoman Michelle Pulido said members from the agency’s SIU and neighboring law enforcement agencies arrested Alberto Galvan, 26, and Joscelyn Torres-Leon, 24, and confiscated the highly-addictive drugs and an illegally possessed gun while serving search warrants in the areas of Brewington Avenue and Bent Tree Court.

Galvan is currently on parole for assault with a deadly weapon, is an active gang member and has prior drug arrests, Pulido said.

Both suspects now face charges for possession of Fentanyl for sale.

Fentanyl is believed to be 50 to 100 times stronger than heroin and morphine.
