North Monterey County firefighter Jonathan Harvey drenches hot spots in a car that burst into flames after it collided with another vehicle on Hilltop Road south of Watsonville Thursday. As the car caught fire, the flames spread into a hillside of dry grass and quickly charred about 100 feet of grass along the southbound lanes on Highway 1, snarling traffic in the area. One victim in the crash and another victim in an uninvolved car had to be flown by CALSTAR helicopters to out-of-county trauma centers.
