WATSONVILLE — Valentin Agustin Pascua died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, April 24, 2017. He was 101.
Mr. Pascua was born on April 7, 1916 to Nicolas Deus Pascua and Juana Agustin Pascua in San Lorenzo, San Nicolas Philippines. He was the youngest of six children. He attended Bingao Elementary School and continued in to San Nicolas High School.
Mr. Pascua developed a special talent and deep interest in farming, agriculture and livestock at an early age. At the age of 16, he began working as a farmer and a cattle broker in the livestock business.
Mr. Pascua and his wife Filomena retired and came to the United States on April 17, 1989 to live with their oldest daughter Nena, son-in-law Policarpo and granddaughter.
During his years in California, Mr. Pascua was an avid gardener and continued to grow fruits and vegetables even up until his mid-90s. He did everything with Filomena until she died on June 27, 2014.
He is survived by his four daughters, Nena, Gemima, Charlesa Estelita and Febhe Glory; three son-in-laws; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
There will be a viewing today, May 6 from 4-9 p.m. at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel with the funeral to begin at 7 p.m. in Watsonville. Burial will take place in the Philippines at a later date.
