WATSONVILLE — Bay Federal Credit Union in Watsonville was struck by a vehicle Monday, a collision that damaged a column and a portion of the building.

Watsonville Police Sgt. Brian Ridgway said the woman hit the gas instead of the brake.

Nobody was injured.

Employees said the collision felt like an earthquake.

Bay Federal Executive Vice President Tonee Picard said that a contractor was scheduled to inspect the building Tuesday and determine whether it will be closed for repair work.

The Watsonville employees will move to the company’s Freedom and Aptos branches in the meantime, she said.

“We’ll be staffing both of those appropriately,” she said.
