Walter Gomez died at his home in Aromas surrounded by his family on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018. He was 93. 

A native of the San Joaquin Valley, he moved to Santa Cruz County 60 years ago, the last 13 years in Aromas.

Mr. Gomez was a dairyman and owned M.P. Gomez and Son for 40 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Gomez enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and hiking in the woods of Modoc County.

Mr. Gomez is survived by his daughters, Madelyn and Debbie; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, in 2005.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, Nov. 8, 10 a.m. at Valley Public Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Rifle Association of America, 11250 Waples Mill Rd., Fairfax, VA 22030. Mehl’s Colonial Chapel was entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
