The Watsonville High boys’ soccer team clinched at least a share of the Pacific Coast Athletic League Mission Division title following a 0-0 draw against Gonzales on Thursday night.

Senior forward Diego Guillen and junior defender Damian Moreno each came the closest to breaking the scoring drought for the Wildcatz in a tightly contested match.

“We had a couple [of chances],” Guillen said. “We were playing too much of their game, the long ball. We weren’t really playing our game. We try to touch a little more in the middle, move around and then send it when we’re in their 30 [yard line marker].”

It was the first game they were held scoreless since falling to St. Ignatius Prep during the SoCal High School Classic on Dec. 30.

Watsonville (9-0-1) could win the league title outright at home against cross-town rival Pajaro Valley on Feb. 9 at 5:45pm.
