The Park Fire in northern California continues to burn in Butte, Plumas, Shasta and Tehama counties and is stacking up to be among the state’s largest. So far, more than 392,480 acres have burned, more than 200 buildings have been destroyed—with around 1,000 threatened—and only 18% containment is being reported by Cal Fire.

Last week Governor Newsom secured federal assistance for the Park Fire—east of Chico—where 3,927 personnel, 16 helicopters, 343 engines, 160 bulldozers, and a swarm of air tankers are attacking the blaze, Cal Fire said.

Watsonville Fire has joined the forces battling the fire as part of a strike team made up of various departments from Santa Cruz County.

Officials arrested  Ronnie Dean Stout II, 42, of Chico, on suspicion of arson after he reportedly pushed his burning car into a ravine on July 24.
