WATSONVILLE–A man whose passenger was seriously injured in a reckless driving incident late November—and who fled the scene after it happened—was arrested Tuesday on a $1 million warrant, California Highway Patrol Officer Sam Courtney said.
Randy Dale Sanders, 58, was charged with reckless driving causing injury and DUI. He was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail in lieu of $1 million bail, jail records showed.
According to Courtney, Sanders was “spinning donuts” in a dirt lot in the area of East Lake Ave south of College Road on Nov. 23. His passenger, a 42-year-old Watsonville man, was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the truck after a door opened. He suffered major injuries and was taken to Natividad Medical Center.
Sanders stopped the truck and fled the scene on foot, Courtney said.
