WATSONVILLE—A Watsonville man was shot early Monday morning in front of a home on the 100 block of Paseo Drive in Watsonville.

Watsonville Police Sgt. Brian Fulgoni said police received a call around 2am about some form of disturbance. Around that time police also received a call from Watsonville Community Hospital about a man who had been dropped off at the emergency room with at least one gunshot wound.

Fulgoni said the victim is listed in critical but stable condition.

First arriving Watsonville Police officers were able to stop a suspect vehicle fleeing the crime scene. Fulgoni said police conducted a high-risk car stop on the vehicle and two men were detained at the scene. Their names were not released.

Police secured a crime scene around the home with lengths of yellow tape and began combing the area for evidence. A silver Chevy SUV sat in the driveway of the home in question with all four tires slashed and flattened.

One witness who lives several houses away from the scene said she heard cars driving in the area and spotted a blue car being driven along Paseo Drive at the time of the incident. She added that the area is usually quiet.

The incident is still under investigation.
