WATSONVILLE—Watsonville Police seized 16 firearms from 12 different cases in February.

“The list of guns seized by Watsonville Police officers keeps growing,” said Michelle Pulido, spokeswoman for WPD. “Most of these guns were used to commit some sort of crime in Watsonville and were in the hands of people prohibited from having them in the first place.”

The cases stem from traffic stops to calls for service and search warrants. Thirteen people were arrested for various charges, including gang member/felon in possession of a firearm, willful discharge of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, having a controlled substance while in possession of a loaded firearm, and possession of a stolen firearm, Pulido said.

“Know that your Watsonville Police officers will continue to crack down on crime with help from our law enforcement partners and community members,” Pulido said.

Suspicious activity should be reported to 471.1151.

    • Criminals will always get guns, while non criminals obey the laws.
I’ve never owned a gun and don’t feel the need to.
      Thank you WPD.
