The St. Francis High girls’ basketball team defeated Harbor High, 45-37, on Saturday to capture first place in the Watsonville Wildcatz Tournament.

Senior Grace Kovacs had 13 points and junior Audrey Hernandez added 10 for the Sharks. 

They beat Anzar, 48-7, on Thursday led by Hernandez with 12 points, while sophomore Aaliyah Gomez added seven points for St. Francis (4-2), which plays University Prep today at 7p.m.

Colfax 65, Aptos 61: The Mariners lost to Falcons in the Marin Catholic Tournament championship game on Saturday. Seniors Natalia Ackerman and Gabby Guiffre were named to the all-tournament team. 

Ackerman had a team-high 27 points to go along with nine rebounds, four blocks and two assists, while Guiffre had nine points, four rebounds and an assist.

Senior Madison Stefanini had 16 points and four assists for Aptos (2-1), which plays Presentation High today at 7 p.m.

Boys basketball

St. Francis 64, Pacific Collegiate 36: Senior Joey Garibay poured in 24 points to help lift the Sharks over the Pumas on Saturday in non-league play. 

Senior Dylan Kane had 10 points and senior Dominick Anderson-Nakagawa contributed seven points for St. Francis. Ten players scored for the Sharks. 

Malachi Douyon led the Pacific Collegiate School with 13 points. 

St. Francis defeated University Prep of San Jose, 72-35, on Monday in non-league action as all 11 players scored for the Sharks. Garibay had 20 points, making four from beyond the arch. 

Sophomore Noah Dowd had 14 points, followed by Anderson-Nakagawa (8) and junior Davin Avila (6) for St. Francis (3-0), which plays Gonzales today at 7 p.m.

San Benito 68, Watsonville 53: Senior David Zamora had 18 points and he was named to the all-tourney team but it wasn’t enough to help the Wildcatz get past the Haybalers on Saturday at the Alisal Jose Solis-Vantory Miles Invitational.

Junior Donovan Mendoza had 19 points with four 3-pointers for Watsonville (1-2), which plays at Stevenson today at 7 p.m.

The Wildcatz lost, 54-65, against Oak Grove High on Thursday. Senior Fabian Rodriguez scored a team-high 14 points followed by seniors David Zamora (12) and Steven Rivas (11).

Girls soccer

Aptos 2, St. Genevieve 0: Senior Brynn Mitchell scored her first goal of the season as the Mariners defeated the Valiants on Friday in non-league action. 

Mitchell received a pass from attacking midfielder Jazmine Casteneda in the 23rd minute of the second half and drove the ball into the back of the net.

Four minutes later, winger Itzel Fahey-Vivo tapped the ball in just out of the goalie’s reach to give the Mariners a 2-0 lead.

St. Genevieve outside defender Julianne Houser received a ball to the face, resulting in a dripping bloody nose and she didn’t return to the game. 

Aptos (2-2-1) plays at Los Altos today at 4 p.m.
