St. Francis senior Gabi Gutierrez saw her final tennis season come to an end in the semifinal round of the Pacific Coast Athletic League Championships on Tuesday at Sherwood Park in Salinas.

Gutierrez fell in three sets, 7-6, 3-6, 10-4, to Zhennifo Chen of North Salinas.

Gutierrez finished the season with a 15-3 overall record, and also went undefeated in PCAL-Mission action.

It was the second time in as many years Gutierrez was in-play for an individual league championship. She advanced to the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League championship last fall, but fell to Mia Totah of Aptos in straight sets.

Gutierrez again showcased her skills in the Sharks’ new league, but fell short of returning to a league final match.
