Miguel Leon, Damian Rivas and Jesus Alvarez took sixth, eighth and ninth, respectively, to help Watsonville win Pacific Coast Athletic League Cypress division Center Meet 2 at Pinto Lake on Wednesday.

Leon finished the 3-mile course in 17 minutes, 3.8 seconds. Rivas followed in 17:21.4 and Alvarez crossed the finish line in 17:51.1.

Watsonville edged York and Gonzales, 54-61.

Stanford Invite – Aptos finished 16th in the Division III race and St. Francis took 11th in D-V race of the Stanford Invitational on Sept. 29.

Josiah Sweet paced the Mariners in 46th

E.J. Kelly led the Sharks in 16th.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

PCAL Cypress – Watsonville’s Carolina Avalos and Pajaro Valley’s Alexandra Romero finished seventh and eighth, respectively, at Wednesday’s PCAL Cypress division Center Meet 2 at Pinto Lake.

Avalos completed the 3-mile course in 22:43.6, while Romero clocked in at 23:15.8.

Watsonville finished third as a team with 73 points. Pajaro Valley was fourth with 80 points. York won the meet with 37 points.

Stanford Invite – Aptos placed 12th in the D-III race and St. Francis ran to a 15th-place finish in D-V at the Stanford Invitational on Sept. 29.

Kalea Zlatunich placed 19th for Aptos and Kristen Martin followed in 32nd.

Cami Ryan was St. Francis’ top finisher, taking 54th.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Stevenson 3, P.V. 1 – Julie Che had 14 kills, nine aces and three digs in Pajaro Valley’s 25-19, 26-24, 25-27, 27-25 PCAL-Cypress loss on Tuesday.

Without its starting setter, Pajaro Valley also lost to Soledad on Sept. 27. The scores were 22-25, 17-25, 25-14, 25-18.

Isabella Langarcia had 12 kills in the loss, including seven in the first set.

Che made 10 digs, and Lourdes Diaz made 28 assists.

Aptos 3, Santa Cruz 0 – Jillian Rodriguez flirted with a triple-double, finishing with 15 kills, seven aces and nine digs in Aptos’ Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League win on Tuesday.

Chloe Manor had 28 assists and six digs, Peyton Dueck added 10 kills and 15 digs and Gabby Giuffre finished with eight kills.

The Mariners (14-5, 5-1), who swept Scotts Valley on Sept. 27 behind Manor’s 34 assists and Rodriguez 14 kills, three aces and 11 digs, begin the second round of SCCAL play on Tuesday at Soquel.

King City 3, MVC 0 – M.V.C. lost in a 25-17, 25-18, 25-22 sweep on Tuesday in PCAL-Gabilan play.

The loss came on the heels of their five-set heartbreaker against Carmel on Sept. 27.

Malou Oostveen and Aleah Rafat each had 12 kills in the loss against Carmel. Allie Tillery finished with 10 kills and two blocks.

GIRLS TENNIS

St. Francis 4, San Benito 3 – Gabi Gutierrez continued her undefeated PCAL-Mission division season with a 6-3, 2-6, 10-6 win on Tuesday.

Emily Wells won No. 3 singles, while the teams of Marisa Vasquez and Santana Rigor and Madeleine Kehoe and Mika Marheineke won in No. 1 and 2 doubles, respectively.

MVC 7, ND-Salinas 0 – Hannah Snyder and Kate Ji recorded 6-0, 6-0 sweeps in Monte Vista Christian’s PCAL-Mission victory.
