A 70-year-old Watsonville woman suffered major injuries Sunday evening in a two-car crash on Highway 1 near Watsonville.
California Highway Patrol officer Israel Murillo said the woman was driving a silver 2017 Ford Fusion northbound on Highway 1 north of Mar Monte Avenue Sunday.
At 5:52pm a 21-year-old man from Watsonville was driving a gray 2016 Lexus IS350 behind the Ford. For unknown reasons, the Lexus collided with the Ford.
The collision made the Ford roll over and land between the right lane of northbound Highway 1 and the Mar Monte Avenue on-ramp.
As a result, the driver of the Ford suffered major injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital. The driver of the Lexus suffered minor injuries and was arrested for felony reckless driving resulting in bodily injury, Murillo said. He was booked into County Jail after receiving medical attention.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation, and it is not believed that alcohol or drugs were factors in this crash.
