WATSONVILLE—A woman suffered major injuries Monday when she was struck by a vehicle as she walked on Green Valley Road, California Highway Patrol Officer Jessica Madueño said.

According to Madueño, the woman was walking in the eastbound lane of Green Valley Road just east of Minto Road at about 7:43pm when she was hit by a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 53-year-old Watsonville man.

The victim, a 33-year-old Watsonville woman, was taken to Natividad Medical Center. The cause of the collision is under investigation.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be contributing factors in this collision, Madueño said.
