The Watsonville Police Department donated $6,193 to the Katz Cancer Resource Center at Dominican Hospital on Tuesday. The funds were raised during October, when Watsonville Police joined other agencies in the Pink Badge Project in commemoration of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Throughout the month, officers sported pink badges on their uniforms to raise awareness of the deadly disease. Community members were also invited to purchase the patches, with all proceeds donated to cancer support programs.
