WATSONVILLE — Two men were arrested within a 30-minute period on Friday for two separate incidents during which they allegedly got behind the wheel while drunk and crashed into Watsonville patrol vehicles, Watsonville Police spokeswoman Michelle Pulido said Monday.

Nobody was injured in the collisions, Pulido said.

Alexis Colimonte and Ariel Sanchez, both 26, face multiple charges related to the crashes. Neither were in custody Monday, jail records showed.

According to Pulido, an officer was responding to an unrelated call at about 1 a.m. when the driver of a red Toyota Tundra rammed into his patrol unit on Main Street and South Green Valley Road.

The suspect, later identified as Colimonte, fled in the direction of Highway 1. Officers caught up to him at the Westridge Business Park where the suspect crashed a second time, Pulido said.

Colimonte was arrested after a brief foot chase.

Police said that Colimonte was driving with a suspended license and had a misdemeanor warrant out for his arrest for a prior DUI in Santa Clara County. He was booked into county jail for hit-and-run, DUI, warrant and making threats toward officers.

About half an hour later, officers were investigating a commercial burglary on the 400 block of Main Street when Sanchez allegedly crashed into two WPD vehicles.
