WATSONVILLE—A 51-year-old Watsonville man died from injuries he suffered in a March 16 crash at Trabing Road and Highway 1.
The man, who has not been named, was a passenger in a 1998 Ford F-150 pickup that was being driven by Maia Cahill, 46, said California Highway Patrol officer Julieta Trenado.
CHP officer Sam Courtney initially said that Cahill was driving northbound on Trabing Road around 12:20 a.m. when she lost control of her F-150, shot off the roadway, overturned and landed on northbound Highway 1.
Her passenger was ejected and suffered major injuries. He was taken to Natividad Medical Center.
Trenado said the CHP was informed Tuesday that the man had died.
Cahill was charged with DUI causing injury. She was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
