APTOS — An Aptos woman was arrested Saturday after she allegedly stabbed her husband to death, Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Sgt. Dee Baldwin said.
Amanda Montero Owens, 51, has been charged with murder and using a weapon in the commission of a felony. She is being held in Santa Cruz County Jail in lieu of $1 million bail.

According to Baldwin, deputies responded to the couple’s residence on the 100 block of Victoria Lane at 12:55 p.m. for a report of a stabbing.
When they arrived they found 63-year-old Thomas Owens suffering from several stab wounds. Paramedics treated him, but he died at the scene, Baldwin said.
Amanda Owens has no criminal record in Santa Cruz County, except for a handful of traffic violations.
In her Facebook page, Owens said that she works as an Administrative Coordinator at Community Life Services, a Santa Cruz-based nonprofit that served people with developmental disabilities.
A woman who answered the phone Monday said someone would call back later.
Owens studied to be a paralegal at Santa Clara University. She studied criminal justice at San Diego State University, her Facebook page states.
A neighbor who did not want to be identified, said the couple moved into the corner lot home around 1990. He described them as polite and friendly, adding that he never heard any kind of disturbance or police activity around the home.
On Monday morning the two-story home, in the upscale Meadow Ranch housing project off of Trout Gulch Road, was quiet, with the blinds drawn.
The neighbor said he had just arrived home Saturday when he saw several emergency vehicles roll up to the home, including seven patrol cars. Investigators rolled out yellow crime scene tape, he said, established a crime scene and went about opening up their investigation.
The man described the neighborhood as quiet. He said that the victim maintained a quiet disposition and largely kept a private profile.
