WATSONVILLE — Several shots were fired into a home on Sunday at East Beach and Blackburn streets, Watsonville Police said.

Multiple residents in the area called 911 around 5:30 p.m. to report the gunshots. Dispatchers at 911 could hear the shots being fired in the background while they were receiving information from the callers, according to Watsonville Police.

WPD officers arrived in the area within one minute of being dispatched, and the shots had stopped by that time, police said.

Officers canvassed the area for victims and the suspects. During the investigation, officers were directed to the rear of a home on the 400 block of East Beach Street where the shots were said to have come from. No victims were located.

A group of males who were at the location were detained and questioned regarding the shooting but denied involvement, police said. Detectives located spent shell casings on the ground behind the reported address and fresh bullet holes along the rear fence line and the exterior wall of a detached garage on the same property.

Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies also responded to the scene to assist with the search for the suspects. The suspects were not located and have not been identified, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
