The No. 17-seeded Cabrillo Seahawks men’s basketball team dropped a heartbreaker to the top-seeded City College of San Francisco 65-61 Saturday in the second round of the CCCAA playoffs.
Sophomore guard Amenofis Mitchell led the Seahawks with 19 points. Linton Acliese, the Coast Conference South MVP scored 15 points and freshman point guard Tynan Valesquez chipped in 11 points.
The loss closes a season that saw the Seahawks win their eighth Coast Conference South championship in 11 years.

• Mosqueda competes at state – Watsonville junior Gianna Mosqueda went 1-2 at Saturday’s California Interscholastic Federation state wrestling meet in Visalia.

JC BASEBALL
• Cabrillo drops two – The Cabrillo College Seahawks traveled to Fresno City College and lost on Friday 7-6 and lost 2-0 on Saturday.
Cabrillo (6-8) catcher Nick Ciandro hit a triple and drove in three runs. First baseman Digger Gugale hit a double and drove in one run. Centerfielder Clayton Andrews belted a triple, scored one run and pitched an inning of relief.
Cabrillo starting pitcher Brett de Geus started on Saturday, pitched seven innings, striking out seven batters and allowing two runs. On Friday, Josh Rodriguez relieved Cooper Krug and gave up four runs in the loss.
Cabrillo hosts Mission San Jose today at 2 p.m.

JC SOFTBALL
• Seahawks split four games – The Cabrillo College Seahawks swept a double-header against Porter College at home on Saturday but lost to Foothill College and San Joaquin Delta on Sunday at Foothill.
Seahawks’ (4-13, 0-1) Melena Cueva drove in five against Porter, Katrina Herrera-Agosti knocked in three runs, Angelica Marquez plated three runs and Hana Lindenmuth and Janessa Carmona each drove in two runs. Jasmine Harrington and Raegen Avrit came away with 9-1 and 7-3 victories, respectively.
Harrington dropped the opener to Foothill, 6-4, on Sunday and Avrit took the 7-4 loss against Delta later in the day.
Shortstop Jamie Sugimoto drove in three runs on Sunday while Aaliyah Ramirez and Grace Giguiere each drove in a run against Delta.

HS BASEBALL
• Watsonville wins two – The Watsonville Wildcatz won a pair of games over the weekend at the Milpitas Michael De Jesus Tournament beating the St. Francis Sharks, 10-0, Friday and Pioneer, 1-0, on Saturday.
Watsonville’s (2-1) James Gomez Jr. had three hits and three RBIs and Dylan Vargas notched two RBIs against the Sharks.
• MVC 6, Saratoga 4 – The Monte Vista Christian Mustangs beat Saratoga High School 6-4 at home on Saturday.
MVC’s (2-0) Dylan McPhillips knocked in two runs with a homer and started, pitching three innings and giving up three runs. Ian Koenig relieved and earned the win.
• Greenfield 5, NMC 2 – The North Monterey County Condors dropped their season opener 5-2 at Greenfield on Saturday.
A.J. Valdez collected three hits for the Condors.

• MVC 17, St. Franics 4 – Holland Finn and Samantha Baer each hit a homer in Monte Vista Christian’s 17-1 win over St. Francis on Monday.
Marisa Angulo smacked two doubles and MVC totaled 16 hits and 15 RBIs.
• Eagles 18, St. Francis 8 – The St. Francis Sharks lost 18-8 at home on Friday against the Everett Alvarez Eagles.
Lena Ciandro had three hits with a double and scored two runs for the Sharks. Miranda Janish and Holly Briley each had two RBIs. Jocie Torres and Alexis Jimenez each had two hits.
• Watsonville 3, MVC 0 – Watsonville traveled to Monte Vista Christian Friday and beat the Mustangs 3-0 in the Wildcatz’ season opener.
Jessica Rodriguez pitched five innings for Watsonville (1-0) and struck out nine batters for the victory. Zaira Pena and Angie Heredia each hit a double.
• Soledad 24, Pajaro Valley 2 – The Pajaro Valley Grizzlies lost 24-2 on the road to the Soledad Aztecs to open up their season.

D-LEAGUE BASKETBALL
• Warriors 118, Bulls 113 -The Santa Cruz Warriors defeated the Windy City Bulls 118-113 on Saturday night at Kaiser Permanente Arena.
Seven different players for Santa Cruz (20-17) scored in double-figures. Alex Hamilton led all scorers with 26 points off the bench, while Phil Pressey was one assist shy of a triple-double, finishing with 19 points, 17 rebounds and nine dimes.
The Warriors will travel to South Dakota to take on the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
