WATSONVILLE—Carol Vides walked away from a food booth at the Santa Cruz County Fair on Wednesday, her arms loaded with corn dogs and other fried food for her family. The bacchanalia of battered and breaded, along with roasted and sweet, lined the main avenue of the fairgrounds as hungry fairgoers poured through the gates when they opened at noon.
“This is basically what we come for,” she said, pointing to her family of three young kids and husband. “They don’t really care about anything else.”
The fair is now fully open, with all the entertainment, food and displays it normally features. This includes livestock displays, which include the traditional piglets, chicks and other farm babies.
Visitors must wear masks when indoors.
The fair will be open from noon until 11pm through Friday, Saturday from 10am-11pm and Sunday 10am-10pm.
