Watsonville High locked down after gun seen

WATSONVILLE—A 14-year-old Watsonville High School student was arrested Monday after police found him with a weapon that turned out to be a BB gun, City of Watsonville spokeswoman Michelle Pulido said.

The school was briefly locked down after someone reported seeing a person with a gun. The WHS Resource Officer requested backup and found and detained the suspect who was carrying a replica firearm that looks and weighs the same as a real gun, police say.

The student was charged with having a weapon on campus.

The case is still under investigation.
