An inmate at the Santa Cruz County Main Jail died Saturday after being found in medical distress.

Ashley Keehn, spokeswoman for the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, said 42-year-

old Trevor George died from asphyxia by hanging in a suicide, according to the Sheriff’s forensic pathologist.

He was initially found suffering from an unknown medical collapse by Jail Correctional and Medical Staff who treated him immediately upon discovery.

Ambulance and Fire personnel then assisted in medical treatment.

Despite the combined life-saving efforts, George was pronounced dead at 4:39pm.

Court records show he was in jail for violation of a protective order.
