Two people were shot Friday night on the west side of Santa Cruz, according to Santa Cruz Police.

Around 8pm SCPD got reports of shots fired on Almar Avenue at Rankin Street in a typically quiet residential area between Mission Street and Delaware Avenue.

“We can confirm that this evening, Nov. 15, there was a disturbance…” SCPD said. “Two people were shot. Both individuals were transported to a hospital. The investigation into the disturbance is currently ongoing.”

A countywide Project Rope was activated where county law agencies set up watch at key locations in hopes of snaring the suspect vehicle.

As of 8am Saturday no suspects had been located.
