A 16-year-old juvenile and an adult male were arrested Nov. 22 in Santa Cruz on suspicion of attempted homicide in a shooting that left two people injured on the west side of Santa Cruz a week before.
Santa Cruz Police said the suspects are being charged with attempted homicide, shooting at an inhabited dwelling or occupied vehicle and conspiracy to commit a crime.
Both victims are still recovering from their injuries.
Just after 8pm on Nov. 15, a Santa Cruz Police officer was in the area of the 2200 block of Mission Street dealing with an unrelated call when gunshots rang out in the area.
The officer broadcasted details of the situation, including possible suspect information, and requested additional units. The shooting took place outside the Parish Publick House restaurant at 841 Almar Ave., where the officer found two injured people.
The incident left several bullet holes and a shattered window at the popular restaurant.
SCPD Investigators believe the incident was gang-related. The identity of the suspect vehicle and the shooters has not been released. One suspect was identified as a juvenile from Monterey County.
Then, on Nov. 22, around 6:30pm SCPD, with the assistance of the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team, Watsonville Police Department, Santa Cruz County Auto Theft Reduction Enforcement, and SCPD’s Emergency Services Unit, arrested both suspects.
