New LED lights have been installed on all trees along Main Street from Riverside Drive to Freedom Boulevard. The previous lights, which covered only three blocks, have been damaged by street growth and vandalism, said Watsonville Parks & Community Services Recreation Supervisor Jessica Beebe. The project  replaces the lights with long-lasting, energy-efficient LEDs “that will enhance both safety and appearance in downtown Watsonville.” Additionally, the redwood trees in front of the Civic Plaza Building will be illuminated. The project is funded through Measure R and a $13,000 donation from the Friends of Watsonville Parks and Community Services. (Tarmo Hannula/The Pajaronian)
