Three people have been arrested in connection with a July 13 shooting in Santa Cruz that investigators believe may be gang-related.
The Santa Cruz Police Department announced Friday that detectives with its Investigations Bureau served search warrants in Santa Cruz and Watsonville as part of the investigation into the shooting, which occurred in the 500 block of Errett Circle.
Arrested were:
• Jose Ernesto Puga Banuelos, who was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a firearm, discharging a firearm at an occupied vehicle and conspiracy to commit a crime.
• Guadalupe Manuel Figueroa Escoto, who was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a firearm and discharging a firearm at an occupied vehicle.
• Anthony Jose Sanchez-Escobar, who was arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm in public.
According to police, officers responded to the 500 block of Errett Circle at about 8:07pm on July 13 after receiving reports of gunfire.
When officers arrived, they searched the area, secured the scene and collected evidence. No injuries were reported.
Investigators believe the shooting may have been gang-related and said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
