Almudena Bernabeu, an attorney who has spent 15 years pursuing justice for victims of human-rights abuses in Latin America and Africa, received the 2012 Katharine and George Alexander Law Prize from Santa Clara University School of Law March 14.
Named in honor of Los Altos Hills residents Katharine and George Alexander, former dean of Santa Clara University School of Law, the award recognizes lawyers who devote their legal careers to helping alleviate injustice and inequity in the world.
Bernabeu works at the San Francisco-based Center for Justice and Accountability, where she is prosecuting Salvadoran officials who are allegedly responsible for the massacre of six Jesuit priests and two female employees in 1989.
