Watsonville firefighters clean up the scene of a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning on Martinelli Street. The male driver of a pickup was traveling north on Martinelli around 10:15am when he plowed into the nose of a Jeep SUV with a female driver. According to witnesses, the man then continued driving on Martinelli just north of East Lake Avenue at a slow speed. That’s when one man, who said his name was Jerry, ran up to the driver’s side and opened the door as the vehicle continued to roll. He said the man was not responding, so he shoved him aside, got behind the wheel and safely parked the pickup. The driver was taken to a local hospital.
