Arjun Venkatesh of Los Altos Boy Scout Troop 37 achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, joining 2 percent of all Scouts who earn the organization’s highest designation.

Venkatesh began his Scouting career as a Cub Scout in Pack 77. He progressed through Webelos before joining Troop 37. He has completed more than 33 merit badges and held many positions of leadership, including senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader and junior assistant scoutmaster. He led trips to Philmont Scout Ranch, Northern Tier Base and Emerald Bay Scout Camp.

An active camper, Venkatesh has camped for more than 116 nights all over the U.S. This summer he plans to visit Florida for a scuba diving trip. With the Florida trip, he will become eligible for the Triple Crown Award for High Adventure, which comprises three strenuous adventure trips. Fewer than 1 percent of all Scouts earn the Triple Crown.

Over his years in Scouts, Venkatesh has completed more than 100 miles of biking, 100 miles of hiking, 70 miles of canoeing and 150 hours of service on 28 projects. He received the Herman Peters Award for leadership and the Scout of the Year award.

For his Eagle project, Venkatesh helped the Los Altos Village Association plant flowers and create 120 double-sided spring banners for display in downtown Los Altos.
