SACO holding annual summer barbecue

CORRALITOS — The Slavic American Cultural Organization invites the public to its Annual July Picnic at the Corralitos Community Center/Padres Hall, 35 Browns Valley Road, on July 9 from noon to 4 p.m. 

Scholarship recipients will be introduced. The menu includes skirt steak, chicken, pasta, salad and desserts. 

Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children under 12. No tickets will be sold at the door and reservations must be made by July 5.

Fundraiser benefits PV Shelter

WATSONVILLE — After the Spirit of Watsonville Fourth of July Parade, Elkhorn Slough Brewing Company, 65 Hangar Way in Watsonville, will hold a fundraiser for Pajaro Valley Shelter Services.

The event, taking place from 3-10 p.m. on July 4, will feature craft beer from Elkhorn Slough Brewing Company, coffee, tea, lemonade and cookies from Hidden Fortress Coffee, pizza from Fired Up Fresh and plates from My Mom’s Mole.

All beer profits will go to PV Shelter.

Live music performances include The Lab Rats at 5:30 p.m. and Metra-Gnomes at 7:30 p.m.

Paint party to be held

WATSONVILLE — Paint & Chill Party, by Vintage Moon Studios, will be on July 11 from 6- 8 p.m. at Carmona’s BBQ Deli, 1040 East Lake Ave.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Santa Cruz Shakespeare begins summer session

SANTA CRUZ — Santa Cruz Shakespeare will perform Alfred Hitchcock’s “The 39 Steps” adapted by Patrick Barlow previewing July 5 and 7 and opening July 8.

Santa Cruz Shakespeare will also host a pre-show wine tasting at 6 p.m. featuring wine from Hitchcock’s vineyard.

“The 39 Steps” is a farce that follows fugitive Richard Hannay as he tries to clear his name in the wake of the murder of Annabella Schmidt.

Additionally, Santa Cruz Shakespeare’s productions of “Measure For Measure” starts July 18 and “The Two Gentlemen Of Verona” opens Aug. 1.

All performances are at The Grove in DeLaveaga Park, 501 Upper Park Road in Santa Cruz.
