WATSONVILLE — A Watsonville taekwondo instructor who was arrested in 2016 for sex crimes against a minor, and who was arrested again in January while he was out on bail for new crimes against a minor, was arrested for a third time on Thursday after police discovered video evidence of his sex crimes, Watsonville Police Sgt. Brian Ridgway announced Thursday.
Nemesio Estrada-Alfaro, 28, was charged with lewd and lascivious acts against a child under 14, sending harmful material to a minor, contacting a minor with the intent to have sex and drug possession, among other charges. He was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
According to Ridgway, Estrada-Alfaro was arrested on May 25, 2016 for crimes against a minor that included continuous sexual abuse and willful cruelty to a child.
While out on bail for that case, Estrada-Alfaro was arrested again on Jan. 31 for contacting a minor with the intent to have sex and giving marijuana to a minor.
While those cases proceeded, Estrada-Alfaro was released on his own recognizance. The trial date has not been set.
This month, Watsonville Police discovered additional evidence that included a video that allowed them to get an arrest warrant for lewd acts, oral copulation and video recording sex acts with a minor.
Police located Estrada-Alfaro Thursday in the area of Main Street and South Green Valley Road at about 4 p.m.
The three victims in the cases were students at N&H Tae Kwon Do studio, Ridgway said.
Estrada-Alfaro owns the studio with his brother.
