The Cabrillo College Seahawks lost their third straight game on Saturday night, falling 34-13 to Monterey Peninsula College in an American Golden Coast Conference contest on Fry’s Field at Carl Conelly Stadium in Aptos.

Cabrillo (1-5, 0-2) trailed 14-13 at the half but was shut out over the final two quarters, as M.P.C. (4-2, 3-0) exploded for 20 points in the third quarter to pull away.

Cabrillo freshman running back Terrence Smith ran 21 times for 102 yards and freshman quarterback Nick Martig was 26 of 40 for 292 yards passing and two touchdowns. But it wasn’t enough for the Seahawks, who allowed six sacks and fumbled the ball away twice.

Martig completed passing scores of 14 and 22 yards to freshman receivers Casey Hamilton and Carl Pinegar, respectively.

Cabrillo’s defense had a rough night, allowing 519 yards of offense, 302 of them coming on the ground.

The Seahawks also hurt themselves by committing 13 penalties for 103 yards.

Cabrillo sophomore linebacker Travis Schuhe had 15 total tackles, one sack and 1 1/2 tackles for loss.
