The Cabrillo College women’s volleyball team took sole possession of first place in the Coast Conference North division with a 25-12, 13-25, 25-14, 25-16 win over West Valley College on Friday night in Aptos.

Camryn Rocha had 12 kills and six digs, Jolie Samuelson added eight kills and eight digs and Mari Molina finished with 22 assists and four digs for Cabrillo (17-1, 5-0).

The Seahawks continue conference play on Wednesday in Salinas against Hartnell College at 6:30 p.m.

GIRL’S CROSS COUNTRY

• Aptos wins invitational – Aptos High’s Marea Zlatunich took first overall and the Mariners won the team title at the Monterey Bay Invitational on Saturday at Toro Park in Salinas.

Zlatunich finished the 3-mile race in 18 minutes, 19 seconds to take first place. Her teammates, Sofia Natividad (16th, 19:52), Susana Estrada (20th, 20:25), Kailea Zlatunich (23rd, 20:35) and Annika Niles (42nd, 21:20), also scored for Aptos, which edged Palo Alto High for the title.

BOY’S CROSS COUNTRY

• Kelly takes 12th, Aptos places 5th – St. Francis High’s E.J. Kelly finished 12th overall and the Aptos High Mariners took fifth as a team at Saturday’s Monterey Bay Invitational at Toro County Park in Salinas.

Kelly finished the 3-mile course in 16 minutes, 42 seconds. He was the fastest runner from Santa Cruz County.

Jorge Benitez led Aptos in 19th (16:53). Luis Garcia (26th, 17:02), Jackson Schenone (35th, 17:16), Koya Oki (37th, 17:18) and Freddy Von Oepen (118th, 18:50) also scored for Aptos.

• Monterey 42, NMC 9 – The North Monterey County High Condors dropped their Monterey Bay League Pacific division game against the Monterey High Toreadores on Friday night in Monterey.

N.M.C. (2-6, 1-3) travels to Alisal High on Friday night to play the Trojans at 7:30 p.m.
