AROMAS — A Gilroy woman died in a crash near Aromas on Highway 129 at Murphy Road Wednesday.
California Highway Patrol officer Trista Drake said the collision occurred around 2 p.m.
Fire crews performed CPR on the woman, however she died at the scene, officials said. The man driving the truck suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
The 40-year-old victim was driving a 2000 Nissan Maxima west on Highway 129 at an unknown speed, Drake said. At the same time, a 65-year-old Watsonville male was driving a Dodge pickup east on Highway 129. For unknown reasons, the driver of the Nissan lost control of her vehicle, colliding with the guardrail on the westbound shoulder, then crossed over the double yellow lines into the eastbound lane of traffic. The Nissan was struck broadside by the Dodge, causing fatal injuries to the driver of the Nissan.
Alcohol or drugs are not suspected, Drake said.
