Rail is a vital transportation asset

Hopefully the new railroad company, Progressive Rail, which is set to take over operations on the Santa Cruz Branch rail line and Watsonville in April, can work with local growers, shippers and other industries to increase shipments by train. The Pajaro Valley Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture is instrumental in promoting the advantages of rail to local businesses in an effort to restore the once vibrant rail infrastructure in the industrial area of downtown Watsonville for it to succeed.
In addition, it will prove to those who advocate the removal the rail line such as Greenway, that it is a vital transportation asset that must remain in place.
