Richard (Polonsky) Porter, 92, of Peabody, MA, passed away on January 29, 2018. Son of the late Frank and Rita Polonsky of Newton, MA, Richard attended Newton High School, Harvard University, and Tufts Medical School. He was a WWII commissioned Naval officer. Richard practiced medicine from 1951-1996, and had a private practice in Redwood City, CA for many years before returning to MA to pursue Occupational Health at Polaroid and Digital Equipment.
A devoted musician and avid reader, Richard leaves a legacy of lifelong study of the sciences, humanities, and arts. He played oboe and wrote program notes for the Concord Orchestra for over 40 years. Richard is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruth (Holmes) Porter of Peabody; his children, Ellen Porter of ME, Amy Porter (and Chris Poss) of CT, Carol (and Barry) Wallace of CA, Philip (and Sonam) Porter of CA, and Thomas (and Baolin) Tsai of CA; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
