In loving memory of Rufina Antuna Fuentez, age 94, who passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 in San Jose, CA. Rufina was born in Durango, Mexico and emigrated to the United States in the 1940’s where she married Tomas Fuentez. Rufina retired in 1977 from Watsonville Cannery after 20 years of service.  Rufina was extremely talented and loved to dance and entertain her loved ones with self-taught harmonica melodies that inspired the people around her. Now she is entertaining all the angels in heaven with a song that her family will miss on their birthdays, ‘Las Mañanitas,’ which is a traditional Happy Birthday song in Mexico as well as important holidays such as Mother’s Day and the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Rufina leaves behind 8 children and their spouses: Ventura, Ruben, Rosemary, David, Nancy, Julia, John, and Sally and she has now joined her youngest son, Louie, in heaven. Rufina also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Private funeral services will be held, and burial will follow immediately afterwards. The Fuentez family would like to extend our gratitude and love to the staff and management at ‘The Rose Garden Court and the ‘Vitas Hospice’ for their attentiveness and loving care. Our loving mother lived a great life. She’s now at peace. Dios te bendiga…

Mehl’s Colonial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
