Julie Keru Torrecillas died smiling on the third hour of Memorial Day, May 28, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was 51.

Ms. Torrecillas was born and raised in Watsonville. From an early age she had an entrepreneurial spirit — selling holiday cards, canned blackberry jam and candies to purchase gifts for her loved ones.

She had an intelligent keen mind with a quick wit and a vivacious infectious laugh. She was kind and quick to forgive any offenses.

As a business woman her steel drive was equally matched by her generous financial nature. She was the spirit of charity. She had an unflinching faith developed in her childhood through church activities.

She is survived by her parents, Jim and Gloria; sisters, Elva, Nancy, Darci and Gina; brother-in-laws, Alan, Peter and Ben; and her nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 4 at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, 609 Main St. in Watsonville from 5-9 p.m. Church services will take place on Tuesday, June 5 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 255 Holm Road in Watsonville at 10 a.m. with the burial to follow at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park, 127 Hecker Pass Road in Watsonville directly after.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted in the care of the Carroll Family of Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, www.avemariamemorialchapel.com.
