Aptos High’s Will Patterson, Matthew Quinn and Patrick Peoples were all named to the Mission Trail Athletic League Mission division’s First Team after leading the Mariners’ lacrosse team to its first league title since 2014.
Aptos finished 12-2 overall and 10-2 in league action. It completed its season on a 10-game win streak, which included an 8-7 win over MTAL-Coastal division champion Palma High in its season finale.
Patterson, a junior, was named the team’s offensive player of the year after finishing with more than 45 points on the year.
Quinn, a senior, accumulated more than 30 points as an attack before stepping into goal and starring between the pipes during the final weeks of season.
Peoples, a senior, also had over 30 points for the Mariners while playing as a middie and attack. His defense was also a big boost.
Senior attack Jack Hegerle made the MTAL-M Second Team, while seniors Jackson Carver, Blake Welle and Koya Oki all earned honorable mention.

• Breakers FC 3, San Diego Zest 3 – Zachary Penner scored twice and Alvaro Madrigal scored once for the Santa Cruz Breakers FC on Saturday in their Southwest Division tie at Watsonville High.
The Breakers (3-1-1), in their inaugural season in the PDL, return to action on Sunday against FC Golden State Force at Santa Cruz High at 2:30 p.m.

• MVC hires golf coach – Monte Vista Christian hired Michael Chapman its new girls golf coach, Athletic Director Matt Coleman recently announced.
Chapman has served as the head golf professional at the Monterey Peninsula Country Club and Salinas Golf & Country Club, while also serving as an assistant at Pebble Beach.
He was also inducted into the Monterey Peninsula College Hall of Fame in 1990, 14 years after playing golf for the Lobos as their No. 1.
He takes over for Janice Renard, who led the Mustangs through the Monterey Bay League Pacific division last fall.
M.V.C. will compete in the Pacific Coast Athletic League’s Mission division next school year with Alisal High, Christopher High, Alvarez High, North Monterey County High and Watsonville High.
