Hannah Hocom, Aptos, Sr.: The reigning Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League M.V.P. will be back for her fourth and final varsity campaign with an uber-talented Aptos High girls basketball team this winter.
Hocom last season averaged 14.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.3 blocks per game while helping the Mariners win their first Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League title since 2000-01. They also finished runner-up in the Central Coast Section Division III playoffs and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the CIF NorCal D-III playoffs.
Hocom, who is verbally committed to play hoops at NYU, won’t be the lone returning standout for Aptos, which has compiled a 52-10 record over the last two seasons. Leading scorer Natalia Ackerman, a 6-foot-1 forward, and starting point guard Gaby Giuffre will be part of a 10-player returning group.
