With the spookiest month of the year halfway over, a chain of Halloween events by the City of Watsonville are fast approaching.
As scores of area residents have decorated their yards with mammoth skeletons, spider webs, swarms of bats, spiders, jack-o’lanterns and ghouls, city officials are ready to add to the scary fun.
The city’s Parks and Community Services warns the public not to get lost in the Maze of Horror, “where every corner may hold a spooky surprise.”
The maze runs Oct. 30 and 31 at 30 Maple Ave.
Then there’s the Halloween Parade on Oct. 30 from 4–5:30pm. That night will be filled with fun, light food and refreshments.
Separate prizes will be awarded for the best, scariest and most original costumes at the Gene Hoularis and Waldo Rodriguez Youth Center at 120 Second St.
Each year the city also puts on the popular Candy Crawl where scores of businesses, the public library, various agencies and others welcome trick-or-treaters to their locations downtown to help fill their bags with candy.
The free event runs Oct. 24 from 2-6pm on and around Main Street near the Plaza.
And keep an extra eye out for TRUNK-or-Treat on Peck Street.
Remember to bring your own candy-collecting container, ages Grades K-12. Or visit The Nucleus between now and the event to create your own candy basket at 120 2nd St. They are open Tue-Thurs 3:30-6:30pm, Fri. 2:30pm and Sat., 11 AM-4pm.
