AROMAS — Described as the largest, and only, festival in Aromas, the annual Aromas Day returns Sunday.

Visitors are invited to start the day with a pancake breakfast at the Aromas Grange, 400 Rose Ave., from 7-11 a.m. Grange volunteers will be serving eggs, pancakes, your choice of ham or sausage, and coffee and juice.

Beginning at 9 a.m., the streets of Carpenteria and Blohm open up to visitors, and include a variety of vendors and shopping options. Local children’s nonprofits,

such as the 4H, Boy Scouts, Aromas Soccer Club, and local school-related clubs, will also start cooking.

The Main Stage will be set up in front of Marshall’s Market, beginning with an open mic at 9 a.m. Performances will be held throughout the day:

• Mariachi Infantil Alma de Mexico, 10 a.m.: A group of young musicians and singers (ages 6 to 17) who have toured California and parts of Mexico.

• Jeff Hardy, 11 a.m.: Hardy, the owner of Aromas Feed, is a guitarist and country singer.

• Noé Yaocoatl Montoya, 12 p.m.: An actor, activist and musician with roots in El Teatro Campesino Playhouse in San Juan Bautista, Montoya is El Maestro of El Teatro and serves as music director.

• Hannah Cooper, 1 p.m.: Bringing her “folkloric jazz” singer/songwriting to the Aromas Day Main Stage, Cooper’s music is influenced by a range of genres.

• Zack Freitas and the Hired Guns, 3 p.m.: This rock and roll band, based in San Benito County, has recently been on tour across the state.

In addition to the Main Stage, Aromas Day offers a second stage for children that includes singing, instrumental and dancing performances, the Surfing Magician, and hands-on petting zoo and an EcoArt project for kids designed by Terra Cultura.

A parade begins at 2 p.m.

A classic car show, art exhibit, garage sales and more fill the day.

More than 5,000 people attend the event every year, which is presented by the Aromas Eagles and sponsored by many businesses and organizations.
