Leticia Diaz Lizaola died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018. She was 72.

Mrs. Diaz was born in La Esperanza, Jalisco, Mexico. The youngest of six, she lived with her cousins. She studied to become a secretary at school and worked her way up to become a typing and short hand teacher. She married the love of her life and after a few years immigrated to Watsonville.

Once she established herself here she worked in the strawberry fields and enrolled in an English class. On her second day of school she was offered a job as a dishwasher at Pacific Coast Manor where she worked her way up to become the dietitian head cook. She loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Arturo Diaz Uribe; her children, Arturo, Adriana and Leticia; her siblings, Maria Luisa, Alicia, Beatriz, Jesus and Amparo; and her six grandchildren.

Visitation services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 29 with a recitation of the Rosary at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel. Mass was celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 30 at Assumption Church with a final blessing ceremony following at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park.
