APTOS — Aptos Junior High School issued a “shelter in place” order Wednesday morning after school officials received a report that a student may be in possession of a dangerous “item,” Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brian Cleveland said.
According to Cleveland, the school received a third-hand report that a student had a dangerous item.
Cleveland did not say whether the item is a weapon. Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies are at the school investigating.
The students are not in danger, Cleveland said.
