Due to poor air quality stemming from the ongoing fire in Northern California, the Aptos Mariners’ Central Coast Section Open Division III football game against the Terra Nova Tigers — first pushed from Friday to Saturday — is set for Monday at 6 p.m. in Pacifica.
Saturday morning’s CCS Cross Country Championships were also moved. Runners will reconvene at Crystal Springs Cross Country Course in Belmont on Monday.
The meet schedule will remain the same, with the boy’s Division II race kicking off the action at 10 a.m.
According to the Associated Press, the blaze near the town of Paradise — about 14 miles east of Chico — had grown to nearly 110 square miles (280 square kilometers) by Friday afternoon.
Aptos and Terra Nova were first rescheduled to Saturday, but air quality did not improve enough for the two football squads to square off.
The Mariners’ playoff matchup was one of 10 football games that were rescheduled Friday afternoon.
