Carmen Silva went to heaven to be reunited with her husband, Zacarias Silva and her grandson, Alex Silva, on December 8, 2018.

She was born on December 15, 1935 in Mexico and was one of 12 children. Carmen was a trailblazer, being the first woman in her small town, Portezuelo, Jalisco, Mexico, to venture to the United States to work alongside her husband in order to be able to immigrate her children. She was a resident of Watsonville for over 48 years and was employed at Green Giant for 19 of those years.

Carmen was a devout Catholic. She was a hardworking woman who defined family values, as her family and friends were most important to her. She was an exceptional cook and showed her love through her food. Carmen’s culinary creations were the beacon that brought her family home, time and time again.

Carmen’s legacy lives on in her children, Altagracia (Antonio) Becerra, Samuel (Elsa) Silva, Sergio (Celia) Silva, Jose (Leticia) Silva, and Francis (Armando) Hernandez, 14 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Also, with those she loved as her own, Lorenzo Estrada, J. Guadalupe Hernandez, Santa Silva, Francisco Arevalo, Steve and Beartiz Manville, Jim and Maria Lopez, Ruben and Glenda Andrade, Jose and Aida Lopez, and many other family and friends.  A special thank you to Dr. Michele Violich for her compassionate care, and to the Gama family for their love and generosity.

There is no doubt that Carmen has left this world a better place. Her memory will be honored and cherished by all of those who had the gift of knowing her and the privilege of loving her. Te queremos mucho Carmelita.

The recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 1:00 pm at St. Patrick’s Church, immediately followed by the Funeral Mass celebration.

Arrangements have been entrusted in the care of the Carroll Family of Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, www.avemariamemorialchapel.com.
