Victorino (Victor) Ortiz died unexpectedly in Watsonville on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018. He was 72.

Mr. Ortiz was born on Nov. 19, 1946 in Calvillo, Aguascalientes, Mexico to Avelino and Rita Ortiz. At a young age he and his family settled in San Benito County where he began working in the local orchards and ag fields.

In 1977 he married Esthela, and moved to the Las Lomas area where they raised three children. Mr. Ortiz spent nearly three decades working at JM Smucker’s and S.Martinelli & Co. before retiring and moving to Watsonville.

Mr. Ortiz was preceded in death by his mother, Rita; and sisters, Enedina Ortiz and Felicitas Cortez. He is survived by his father, Avelino; his brothers, Joel, Carlos (Lizzett) and Manuel Ortiz; his sisters, Manuela (Joe) Lopez, and Dolores Garcia; wife, Esthela Ortiz; sons, Carlos (Claudia) Gonzalez, Gustavo (Adriana) Ortiz; daughter, Leticia (Alex) Suarez; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel on Dec. 30 from 5-9 p.m.

Ceremony will be held on Dec. 31 at 8:45 a.m. followed by burial in San Juan Bautista Cemetery at 11 a.m, 70 Monterey St., San Juan Bautista.

Reception to follow burial hosted by Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 700 South Green Valley Road, Watsonville.
